Car Free in NYC and Now Arlington

My husband and I moved here from NYC, another city with a great public transportation system. We wanted to maintain our car-free lifestyle, so we got an apartment near the Metro. Zipcar is great when we need a car, which is not often. With my employer's transit benefit, we only spend about $100 a month getting around. We are free from the costs and responsibilities of owning a car, and we get a lot more exercise than we otherwise would. Thanks Arlington for promoting this! It has been a great choice for us.

Excellent post!

I too I am car free. I have just bought an electric bike and it's solar powered - zero emission!!!

I recharge it at night, I go anywhere I like and I do some excercise too.

I bought the bike + the solar panel and the rest for less than $1,000.

Haha. I love your name. Very clever. I have rarely had a car, and wnen i did have one i rarely drobe it. My trick is to never live far from the subway. The farthest i have lived was an 8 minute walk, and sometimes I'd ride my bike to the subway station.

I live further out now but still near the subway. I have noticed i use my bike way less and so am hankering to live closer to downtown. The more biking i was doing, the healthier I felt.
